|
As the Maine winter begins to settle in and weather patterns start to become unstable, we would like to remind all
Auburn Citizens to be prepared for those unpredictable weather moments. If weather reports start to make suggestions or predict that foul weather is approaching our area we recommend that you listen to those suggestions and prepare yourselves, your families and your property for these storms. Some of the items that you may want to think about getting would be the following:
- First Aid to manage small lacerations and abrasions
- Generators with proper extension cords and adapters (GFIC) to power your house and necessary electrical appliances
- Flashlights with spare bulbs and batteries
- Batteries for flashlights, radios and smoke detectors
- Shovels
- Sump Pumps in case of heavy rains
- Spare gas and oil
- Bottled water
- Canned food (Don’t forget the can opener!!!)
- Fire Extinguisher
- Plastic sheets and duct tape for shelter-in-place structures
- Protective gear like gloves, respiratory masks and other heavy duty clothing
Not only should you have these items and emergency plans for your homes but to also have kits prepared for your car. On top of making sure that you have plenty of fuel, windshield fluids, and oil don't forget about the importance of having inflated tires with good treads on them. Some other items you may want in your car kits are:
- Road triangles or flares

- Shovel
- Windshield scraper
- Jumper Cables
